Biography

Brian Phillips is the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation, a partnership between BJC HealthCare and Washington University in St. Louis dedicated to the long-term stabilization and revitalization of neighborhoods adjacent to the Washington University Medical Campus. Under his 25 plus year leadership, Brian has overseen institutional investments of over $50m into the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood, which has resulted in over $1b in private and public investments. This has resulted in a community transformed from a once declining and underinvested community to a thriving diverse mixed-race and mixed-income community.

Brian has been and continues to be active with a number of organizations focused on community and economic development at the neighborhood level. He currently chairs and is a founding member of the Euclid South Community Improvement District. He serves as an advisor to the Great Rivers Greenway Equitable Economic Development committee and was a founding member and former board chair of the Grove Community Improvement District. Brian is a founding member of the Park Central Community Development Corporation and currently serves as its board chair.

Brian received his Bachelors of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University of Science and Technology and a Masters of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. He has completed over 50 graduate credits toward a dual Masters of Community and Regional Planning and Public Administration.
